How's this for some out-of-the-box brainstorming about threats to the nation? This was posted by Richard Hahn on his stock market website tonight:

"Here's a strange fear of mine, based on pure paranoia. I just hope this terrorist risk is simply impossible to accomplish. We all know there has been a “credible” risk acknowledged to the infrastructure of California. As far as I know, there really isn't any way for the terrorist to strike bridges, dams and population centers to create a disaster bigger than the WTC attacks. Unless, they could somehow trigger a 7.0 magnitude earthquake. With California having over 500 minor tremors last week, there may be increased risk. A one megaton bomb placed in the right spot, deep enough, on a key fault line, could trigger “the big one”. (Now that I've printed this crazy fear, it will never happen. At least....I hope this is a ridiculous fear. And, I hope some of the law personnel are monitoring strange activity on the fault lines!)?
