What happens when a technology becomes outdated?

Ask IOM about it...

siliconinvestor.com

This company's product revenues peaked in late 1999 at about the same that inexpensive
CD-RW drives were starting to become mainstream. Now they (IOM) are highly
dependent on Zip drives and disks which are losing market share to less expensive
alternatives. In September the company had a 1-for-5 reverse stock split.

I noticed that Pocket Zip revenues are down to about $2 million per quarter.

IOM was killed by CD-RW with 650MB diskettes selling for less than 50¢ and
CD-RW drives becoming standard fair on new PC purchases.

Despite all the hoopla, Clik! drives never made a dent in CompactFlash sales
and I never saw a single camera at retail that featured Clik! as an alternative
to CF or SM. In the end IOM gave in. It branded its own CF cards. Can you believe it?
