Paul, "Oh..Pentium 4 is a failed chip? Then why does it outsell the AthWipers by 2 to 1 ?"

For an allegedly smart guy like you it is a very stupid
question. If a company holds 80% of the desktop market
with essentially two products, P3 and P4, and announces
cancellation of P3, what OEMs are supposed to sell?
Are there merits or not, they have no choice.

"MHz SELLs - right, Bam Bam?"

Right. Have you been lately at any retail shop?
Dare to find any Rambus-based machine?
Every machine is SyncDRAM based, no Rambus at all.
It is amazing how fast the industry dropped the bastard RAMBUS
in favor of cheap SDRAM, even if performance
of P4 with i845 somewhat sucks in formal benchmarks.
As I predicted, no one will ever mention the actual
performance of P4/SDRAM, riding on P4/Rambus performance
tales. For the same reason I do not expect any SPEC
publications out of i845 systems.
