Annual SEMI Dinner and Award Ceremony

The 28th SEMI Dinner and Award Ceremony was a huge success. Over 525 people turned out last night to honor industry innovation and hear the views of industry luminaries on "Forecasting the Future of Technology" at the DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose.

SEMI North American Awards

Seven technologists were honored for their significant contributions to the advancement of semiconductor manufacturing technology. The SEMI North America Awards were presented by SEMI president and CEO, Stanley T. Myers, to Robert Knollenberg, Ph.D.; the team of Paul Allen, Ph.D., Neil Berglund, Ph.D. and Paul Warkentin, Ph.D.; and the team of Anders Thurén, Hans Buhre, and Tor Sandström, Ph.D.

Robert Knollenberg, chairman and CEO of Research Electro-Optics, Inc., received the 2001 SEMI Award for North America in recognition of groundbreaking work on development of particle detection and sizing techniques that have dramatically enhanced the semiconductor device manufacturer's ability to build more advanced integrated circuits and improve device manufacturing yield.
