Maryland Applied Information Technology Initiative Program

ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 5, 2001--CBQ, Inc. (OTCBB:CBQI) announced today that its Chairman Bart S. Fisher has been appointed by the Governor of Maryland Parris Glendenning to the Board of Directors of the Maryland Applied Information Technology Initiative (MAITI). MAITI is a statewide initiative involving eight Maryland higher educational institutions, such as Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland, aimed at meeting the rapidly rising demand for information technology graduates in Maryland corporations.

The MAITI Board of Directors includes industry information technology leaders from Lockheed-Martin, Northrop-Grumman, Honeywell, and other companies actively doing business in and with the State of Maryland, as well as leading computer science educators from the State of Maryland.

MAITI is managing a $27 million budget to promote the development of innovative information technology capabilities at participating institutions. The principal goals of MAITI include:

-- doubling the number of information technology (IT) graduates

from Maryland's institutions of higher education by 2004 to

meet the needs of Maryland IT companies; and

-- strengthening IT research and development at Maryland's higher

education institutions to enable them to serve the R & D needs

of existing Maryland IT companies and to attract new IT

companies to the State.
