I'm very glad you donate to a local women's shelter. Women have been raped left and right in many conflicts (and that includes the zillions of conflicts we do not enter, because they have no strategic interest to us). You may know (or may not) that brutalizing women is an almost irresistible part of war. Even for our soldiers. ps- and no one goes to war because of women and children. They make excellent propaganda AFTER war has begun, but not before. Please recall even in WWII we ONLY went to war because of Pearl Harbor, and in WWI because of a nasty telegram from Germany to Mexico- about how Germany would help Mexico get back territory from the US if Mexico would join the war. We are (like all other countries) a self interested nation.
