and naturally the reaction of most people is denial until things get so bad that they are forced to confront the reality instead of continuing embrace the spin and BS they had hoped were true Americans have literally been fat and happy for a long time. So it's even harder to face the truth that, except for press conferences, spin and BS, our central government apparatus in NON-FUNCTIONAL.

My take on attacking this mess to FOCUS. Attack one key issue at a time. Discussion is fine up to a point. But then you have to pick up the phone and/or the pen and demand action from your elected representatives. I've done that and will continue to pound the table for everyone who'll listen to me to do likewise.

Civil Service tenure has to go, people!! Then we can not only fire incompetent, dishonest and just plain moronic government employees, but also eliminate entire government agencies that are nothing but back holes for tax $$$.

It will require either repeal or amendment of the current Civil Service Law which mandates perpetual employment no matter how bad the employee is. Why should gov employees be a privileged class at the expense of our wallet AND now our domestic security.

Let's see if we can go beyond posting and discussing to focus on action vis a vis "Just One Thing" per Jack Palance in City Slickers<G>

Call your congressman and raise hell about our non-functional central government Turkey Farms!! It's time to repeal the blanket guarantee of lifetime employment that is causing this.
