OT: Ed,

If you insist on talking about the Z3, I will simply point out that, not only is its elongated snout homely and the side vents silly, but it is overpriced. Although not a "car guy" (almost as silly as being a die hard "Laker's fan" or name your professional sports illusion of choice), it is clear that the best blending of form and function is the Mazda Miata, and it can be got for 2/3 the price of a Z3. (For pure beauty of outside, shell design (I am, at heart, superficiality itself), the Mazda RX7 with tear drop vents when it first came out in the early 90s literally stopped me on the street, like a beauty in a short, very short, skirt. For unadulterated homeliness, few high end cars match the sport utilities coming Mercedes and BMW.)

In any event, since neither Z3 nor Miata fit a kayak or skis comfortably, or even a backpack, they serve no purpose. I once went hiking via a Mitsubishi GT; after the 6 hour hike and the 2 hour return trip, low slung, I couldn't straighten up for about 3 days.
