Certainly Johnson and Shilling were good but they weren't the only pitchers. The Yankees did a lot of the damage themselves through their overall hitting. By my count, they had 42 hits in the entire 7 games. Compare that to 'Zona's 65.

Still, Johnson and Shilling pitched more than half of the roughly 67-odd innings played. That certainly was a deciding factor and so I lean towards the idea that they made the right choice. They deserve the MVP based on their dominating the action so much, of course. However Shilling pitched roughly 6 more innings than the Unit, so it seems the choice is fair. At least that's the way it appears to me.

I think the Yankees are out of the Series as contenders. The team is going to be broken up too much. Wait and see, I suppose.
