Java does many thing that would be difficult for ActiveX too.

MSFT fan like to compare ActiveX with Java. ActiveX is good but it is an API on the top of MS Windows. Java is the next generation OO language for Internet. It will be fine to compare ActiveX with Java's distribute computing functionalities such as RMI, Joe, NOE or JavaBean. But it is not wise to compare ActiveX with the whole Java unless people try to talk Java cheap.
