I don't know about anyone else, but I think OBL's attack of other Arab leaders may be his first big mistake here. IMO, his attempt to turn this into a holy war by saying we are attacking Islam was a brilliant tactical move, but he seems to be closing himself off in a cocoon of extremism with statements like the following:

Those who pretend they are leaders of the Arab world and remain members of the UN are infidels."
