It wouldn't be a bad strategy but Buffett is not buying a publicly traded company. He is buying a bankrupt company where the equity will be wiped out. The current shares are already worth nothing (as per the bankruptcy filings that he is adopting save the attachment of some of the liabilities).

The saps who are buying now for the "long term" or even medium term will end up with zip all.
