I am sorry you can't handle the truth.

Channeling Nicholson here? -g

There is no consensus view from the left, Bill. Why, even among those who post here who identify themselves as liberal, there is a great deal of variation in opinion about the nature of our proceedings in Afghanistan, how the new anti-terrorism bill will effect our civil rights, etc.

I am suggesting to you that each of us is trying our best to keep abreast of the news and to cope with the psychological and economic effects of the war. The longer the war on terrorism goes, the more impatient and emotional the reactions of all our citizens. I have read numerous "Just nuke 'em" diatribes by SI members who describe themselves as conservatives. I find this kind of thinking to be reprehensible.

I believe the focus of this thread is not on fingerpointing at the left and the right, but information sharing and debate. There are many threads on SI where partisan invective is the order of the day. I am under the impression that Faultline does not wish that to be the case here.

(Correct me if I'm wrong, FL.)
