Who knew and, more importantly, who cares? He still would have lost the bet. He predicated his bet that there never would be any profit because there never would be a venture with Procter and Gamble. Turns out Wrigley paid up $20M more than the plant's book value partly because of pending business with P&G.

Of course, its a really big "so what" since there was no agreement to bet. So let's not make something of this that doesn't exist.

You know this whole arguing back and forth is a bunch of crap. The bulls on this stock overestimated the company's ability to make things happen, the bears underestimated their endeavors and the management has subsequently changed.

I still own some stock because I believe in the product and Hank remains short because he doesn't. That is fine with me. If new management proves ineffective, then at some point I will sell. If they prove effective and the stock responds then I suppose Hank will buy back. Neither event will make or break either of us...of that I am sure.

Perhaps we should agree to dispense with the heated exchanges because I, for one, don't really care about anybody else's position on this company.
