I'm not a gamer, but I seem to remember that PS2 was supposed to be Internet-capable soon. Is it or have I gone brain-dead?

No, you're not brain dead. It was originally supposed to have a 56K modem as the SEGA product had a modem at the time the PS II was in development (then it was reported the modem would supposedly be available in a future upgrade and now is listed as an "optional purchase" for some sort of broadband connection) to go along with the two USB ports, a FireWire port, a PCMCIA slot, a CD player that plays PS I/PS II discs as well as acts as a DVD player. I haven't investigated the "optional purchase" for broadband connection for online gaming with our PS II as we have no need for it at this point - so I don't know if it is available or not.

P.S. Mike, if you had a cell phone, you could play games on your cell phone. The screen is a little small, but my phone has about a dozen games loaded on it which my kids enjoy while we are on public transportation. I quickly became bored with that feature.
