Mary, OT, RE: The main point is that you have to be an athlete to be a baseball or basketball player and that is not always true for football players. Yes, yes, I know - there are a lot of great athletes in football - but you don't have to be an athlete to succeed. Kyle Turley and Ray Lewis may have certain attributes that allow them to succeed in football - but chances are they do not have sufficient athletic abilities to be good at anything else in sports.
OK, my last thought on this one.
A few years ago, toward the end of his career, John Kruk was having a smoke and a beer in a local bar. He had finished a game earlier that evening. A woman recognized him and lambasted him for his very nonathletic habits, in midseason at that. Kruk replied, "Lady, I'm not an athlete, I'm a ballplayer."
Given that we have diametric opinions on Ray Lewis' athletic ability, I'm just going to have to agree to disagree. |
