It would seem a lot of the money we invest in keeping the Middle Easterners at bay, Middle Easterners who apparently despise the U.S, could be spent on this technology/oil. What other reason would we have then to be in the Middle East? Carpets, dates, sand? There's still the Isreal thing...jeeeez

We actually need to develop alternative forms of energy but the dream of getting away from dependence on Arabian oil is a nice one.
