Not so. BOE auctions have shown less & less impact

over the years. Early auctions had the most negative effect on the gold price. But the market has become more and more successful in smoothly absorbing the supply

Auctions during the past 12 months have been strongly bid. Purchase offers commonly range from 3 to 4X the amount of gold offered by the BOE.
