Duke - you know that there must have been an acrimonious behind the scenes discussion before this ever went public. The fact that CF did not have "the family" clearly in her camp says a lot about her ability (or lack thereof) to play at this level.

I don't think this means that the tide is in favor. I think it is a lot more likely that many of the influential senior people at HP went to the family as a last resort, probably after looking hard at the current conditions, the merger planning process, and the potential impact on HP. If enough of those people came out against the merger, that would have a big effect - after all, those same people will be asked to work 100 hour weeks for a long time to run both the company and the merger.

If the Packard crew also comes out against, I think the plan is dead.
