Awesome story on NPR this AM. Interviewed some woman who was high up in AARP. She said last time around when Greenie trashed short rates (early 1990s) AARP phones ringing off the hook, membership screaming bloody murder and calling for Greenie's head for crushing their CD income. This time around, phones are silent.

Cut to Acton (decently well off Boston suburb) where they interview a woman in a retirement community. "Oh, I don't worry about where interest rates are; my money's in the market. Most of us have our money in the market."

Sheesh. At least my parents aren't so dim.

editors note: all financial opinions of people from boston should be taken with a huge grain of salt and are not necessarily indicative of what normal people are thinking. our populace nearly passed a referendum last evening to impose a 2% surcharge on our property taxes; in the People's Republic of Cambridge they actually did pass it.

Cheers
