Kodiak Bull:

I belong to your school when it comes to wine. We are drinking our way through a perfectly decent Chianti (with the official numbered label, for whatever that's worth), that was remaindered out at $3.99 a bottle.

I do sometimes have some white with cheese and crackers before dinner, but except with seafood, what we really enjoy is a good red with dinner. I keep picking up Australian and Spanish laebls I've never heard of, and they usually turn out to be more interesting than the low-end French vins de table.

I have pretty much given up trying to age wine myself. Too often it gets into a decline before I get to it. An exception was a couple of bottles that we picked up at one of the newest licensed vinyards in Brugundy--right at the northern tip, not far from Vezelay.

Now of course, I would really like to open a bottle of Clos Vougeot every evening, but I just can't afford to commit $10,000 a year or more to wine. Wish I could.
