Unfortunately, as an engineer, I can not seem to focus on anything but a companies technology and product. This has caused me a bit of anguish from time-to-time as an investor when a company with superior technology did not perfom as well as competitor(s) with inferior technology.
I like CGRM because they have solid messaging product with many years of life left, whereas Octel is facing the challenge of an aging platform. I think this CGRM is undervalued. I have managed to avg down my holdings to the mid 12's so I am very comfortable with my position. I do not see a lot of down-side risk with CGRM.
I have a similar position in BORL. Like CGRM, BORL has been out of favor for a while, and is price very favorably. Also, they have introduced a line of new development tools that are winning awards, and dominating the shelves of computer stores nationwide (according to the many programmers who post on the BORL SI thread). I also see little down-side risk with BORL.
BORL is a risky investment not for the faint-of-heart. CGRM has a much stronger balance sheet, and presents less of a risk. However, I don't know if I'd buy CGRM at current price. at < 12, it was a steal. BORL is trading under 7, and they announce Q1 results in mid July. Analysts expect loss of about .19. I think that BORL will exceed expectations. |
