Interesting article sifkajb. I've had a suspicion that broadband (cable and DSL) might be losing its luster. I've had cable, TW RoadRunner, for about 9 months, and with the exception of faster downloads of files, I really don't see any noticeable benefit. There doesn't appear to be any breakthrough killer application that I'm aware of. I'm sure that daytraders who need quick data transfer and perceived faster executions probably feel that it's worth it.

All in all I personally don't see the advantage that I thought that I would. I've had a local ISP that charges $9.95 a month unlimited access at 56K for 5 years...I still have it as a backup and I'm giving some thought to canceling RR and going back to the 56K modem.

As far as I'm concerned (personally) the cost of "broadband" is hard to justify from a cost/benefit basis. At $20 a month instead of $40 +, I'd probably not be thinking about dumping it.

My situation is not the result of any change in my financial well being....just that I really don't see where RoadRunner has been that much of a whiz bang change.
