so some don't like us; the Friedman column reproduced here yesterday is a more than adequate response to this author's reasoning as to why we're not "liked". Well, in fairly short order we are going to be respected a whole lot more, even if we're not "liked" by certain peoples. As for the lament that children are dying, think of the children that have been dying in Afghanistan all along , thanks to a certain repressive but "religious" regime. And as for children and others dying for a long time, where are their wealthy brothers? Where is the aid that the oil billions could provide? Where are the homes that could substitute for refugee camps which their better off brethren could easily provide if only they didn't want the propaganda value of the suffering? We Americans take care of our own as well as so many others in the world. This "religion" called Americanism is a shining light to the rest of the world because it's based on a multi-cultural "faith" that do unto others really means something. Not do unto others before they do unto you but the more positive, humane version. Dee Jay
