I am curious, end of this year intel promised 2.2GHz chips and p4 on .13um. I know you'll say that the new chip would have larger cache but the improvements in performance are not important ( as per intelabees ) and all that counts is MHz. hence we can safely ignore all of the chip changes and conclude that the speed benefit of going to .13 um is only 10% and we already know that cost saving would not really kick in until the end of 2003 and even then it is less than expected?
That brings me to another question - if the savings are not going to kick in until the end of '03 and at that time intel is planning to move to another process when exactly intel is planning to capitalize on the current changes?
Is intel investing or wasting?
