CLIFTON, N.J., Nov 7, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Tutogen Medical Inc. (AMEX: TTG), in response to questions regarding the recently released results of tests conducted by Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT) as reported in the Wall Street Journal's article of November 1, 2001, demonstrating the effectiveness of genetically engineered bone-growth protein, Manfred Krueger, CEO of Tutogen Medical, Inc. made the following comments: "We have been aware of this effort and many other similar efforts to produce functional bone-growth factors. As pointed out, these products are designed to possibly replace the use of various metals and synthetics in the repair of damaged bone thus avoiding the need for additional surgery to remove the metal or synthetics once the bone has healed. By using biological implants instead of metal or synthetics there is no need for a second operation.
