albert, RE: Intel's varying correlation of investments to it's core business would make that approach hard to implement Huh? What does the varying correlation have to do with anything? Intel Capital's book value is a firm number reported every quarter. Earnings from Intel Capital are also reported every quarter, and are easily removed from other operations. It is very simple to implement.
