TLC-- Damn man I find you everywhere. I hold a tiny amt of AOL from long ago-- never would touch their crappy dial-up though. Possibly it is OK for kids and those too lazy to think about a real ISP. Still, I find Netscape COMMUNICATOR 4.78 to be fantastic,,, the new one is slower and the 1st upgrade I passed on after trying. Many years ago I went on-line with a business acct from IBM Global. It was later sold to ATT. The greatest dialup ever and I was grandfathered in,,,,, but fell for the additional speed of RR. After 6 weeks I cancelled ATT Global which was a huge mistake. I heard from a frien across country about rr going down for hours at a time with the 'virus' excuse. Should they not be overprotected? Then on a Fri eve rr goes down and service was called. A problem with my computerS! All at the same time and their own software points to them having a problem not me. They were called again as people for blocks around were down... they were working on it,, what a friggin joke! Sun AM I told service if they were not up prior to the mkt opening to come haul their shit away as I was going back to a dial up... at 10:15 they were up,,, I was up at 8:00,, all 'puters running on phone lines. My guess is it was either a bad server or switch/router. Told them that Fri! They must have been too damn cheap to pay someone to work on the weekend and Mon he came in found a server needed replaced or a router needed replaced,, an hour plus a coffee break and things were up and running,,, rr has been totally removed from all my boxes.
I have talked my sister into trying a DSL line and my brother into a dish,,, I'll move on to which ever works out best,, in the mean time I have nothing good to say about rr except they have the best LACK of service of any company I know.
