Not really. Timna was just another piece in Intel's plans to control everything from the palm top to the supercomputers. Timna was going to be the piece that closes the hole in the low end. Intel already had the parts that would give them control of the rest of the desktop market, but Cyrix, AMD, Winchip and Rise were trying to carve out a place in the value end of things. Since that was intolerable, Timna was the answer...

It's funny how things really worked out.
