I had it wrong then. It was my impression it was integrating everything. The integration of all those analog components would have been a serious problem, as Cyrix and National have found out.


Of course, like other people have mentioned, Timna also included integrated graphics, which may have been an impact to performance. On the other hand, integrating an MCH that is already tested and proven would have made it easier to design, not harder. I always thought that the failure of Timna had to do with the expensive nature of the memory, and the inability to create an inexpensive RDRAM->SDRAM translator device.
