Sam, the only problems I have encountered at all were:
1. An administrative problem when it was first installed. The installer forgot to submit the paperwork. A week later my account was automatically shut off. It took some effort to get my e-mail address back when they turned it back on.
2. I did have occasional loss of connectivity (both directions) and the cable light on the modem would go out. Maximum outage was 5-10 minutes. They came out and discovered that the same installer (surprise!) forgot to install a required low-pass filter. Haven't had any other problems since they installed the filter.
BTW, I am very close to an airport, and have lousey wiring inside the house. The airport causes considerable interference with my cable TV picture. They recommended that I drill a hole in the wall so that they could install new cable from the outside. I declined, as I'm planning on moving my office to a different room, which already has a hole in the wall to the outside.
But, as I said, even with the airport interference, I have had NO trouble since they installed the filter, which is supposed to be a standard part on every installation. It has been 100% reliable since then, as far as I can tell. It has been MUCH better than my ISDN service with Pacific Bell, where I experience frequent problems with Pacific Bell, my ISP, and my ISP's Ascend equipment. |
