Major Health Plans Covering 6.7 Million Members Are Expanding Reimbursement
For Treatment Alternatives

NEEDHAM, Mass., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- UroMed Corporation (NASDAQ:URMD),
a company committed to women's health care, today announced that Prudential
Insurance Company of America (covering approximately 5 million health plan
members) and Oxford Health Plans (Nasdaq: OXHP) (covering approximately 1.7
million members), will provide reimbursement for the UroMed continence care
continuum. The current continuum consists of the Reliance(R) Urinary Control
Insert, the Impress(TM) Softpatch, the INTROL(R) Bladder Neck Support
Prosthesis and the PelvicFlex(TM) Personal Trainer video. All of these
products offer relief to the estimated nine million American women with stress
urinary incontinence (SUI).
"While surgical treatment options for this condition have long been
patient-reimbursed, this step by Oxford Health Plans and Prudential Insurance
Company marks the beginning of a new era," said John G. Simon, UroMed's
chairman of the board and chief executive officer. "Allowing patient
reimbursement for self-management of this condition with UroMed's prescription
devices is a major step toward recognizing stress urinary incontinence as a
serious health issue. These payors are taking a progressive approach towards
managing women's health concerns and expanding coverage for treatment options.
The impact of this decision on women's health care will be widely noted and
welcomed by female health care groups, advocacy organizations and millions of
women who suffer silently with this condition. We are pleased that the
managed care industry is responding to the requests of its female members.
Stress urinary incontinence is a serious health issue, and as such, deserves
the same coverage offered to patients with other health conditions," continued
Simon.
"After careful evaluation, Prudential found all these devices acceptable
for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence in women," said Dr. Arthur
Levin, Medical Director of Prudential Insurance Company of America. "UroMed's
range of products provides a number of options for women with this problem who
need alternatives to surgery and adult briefs."
"Women's health care issues are a priority for managed care organizations,
and Oxford Health Plans is committed to fulfilling the needs of their
customers," said Thomas Travers, DDS, MPH and Vice President of Medical
Healthcare at Oxford Health Plans. "Before UroMed's products, there were few
options that worked."
For more information on the Reliance Urinary Control Insert, the Impress
Softpatch, the INTROL Bladder Neck Support Prosthesis and the PelvicFlex
Personal Trainer video, individuals should contact their healthcare provider

UroMed, founded in October, 1990, is dedicated to establishing itself as a
leader in the development of male and female health care products. Its
initial area of focus is the provision of a unique and valuable integrated
system of continence care for health professionals, patients and payors.
Currently, UroMed's system includes the Reliance Urinary Control Insert, the
INTROL Bladder Neck Support Prosthesis and the Impress Softpatch -- all FDA-
cleared for marketing, as well as the PelvicFlex Personal Trainer video. This
system is complemented by a direct customer support and distribution system.
In addition, UroMed continues to dedicate significant resources to the
development and/or acquisition of new options that fit into UroMed's continuum
of care, both within and outside of the continence care market.
