Polvster,

I had the pleasurable experience of meeting a 2 star Air Force General yesterday afternoon. We....him, my buddy who introduced me to him, and I.....were sitting on the front of my boat, enjoying the fall sunshine, sipping whiskey, smoking cigars, and listening to his war stories. He is a very interesting guy. He was shot down twice in f105s over Viet Nam.

He described fighting in "The Storm" . One thing I remember he said...I'm paraphrasing, and probably not getting it all right(that sippin whiskey thing), but what we(USA) had told Sadam ......"if any biological, chemical, nuclear weapons are used against us, Baghdad will cease to exist. "

He kind of likened it to a beat cop working in the ghettos. "After a while, you adopt the same type of mentality, means, and actions of the enemy. You have to. Its human nature. If someone comes into your home and threatens you and your family, your gonna fight..with any and all means necessary.....very dirty if you have to"

i think we're killing these dudes because their tribunal
refused to hand over a friend of theirs that we've accused
of inspiring and plotting terrorist acts

I wonder what the germans would have said if we demanded Hitler to be handed over?

Just a thought.

Obviously not exactly the same thing....but......part of that evolution thing maybe........
