Read on another board that the 300 mm fab for 2005, to be partnered with (Fujitsu?) would include 65 nanometer.
So, I've been thinking (dangerous) since the AMD CC. If I have a company, and the next 2 years are critical (all 2 year periods are) I'd want the critical technologies, dependendies, risks and assumptions in my own back yard, in other words, in areas I'm very familiar with. The next 2 years are highly dependent, for both Intel and AMD, on process and manufacturing improvement. The designs (except Banias) are mostly done, now it's crank'em out with faster and faster clock speeds. Intel is the overwhelming world leader in process and manufacturing technology for high volume chip production. With AMD, it's catch as catch can in those areas. Ergo, Intel has AMD right where they want them.
