DEBKAfile’s political analysts term this policy somersault a mortal blow to US relations with the Arab world and a turning point in the ties between Washington and Jerusalem. Well, maybe. I think DEBKAfile's political analysts are indulging in wishful thinking. The Bush Administration would still like to quiet the Israeli situation to work with the Arab moderates; but they have a realistic assessment of the chances of any plan that needs Arafat's active cooperation.
