Keith, the FCC rule change does not provide MORE spectrum. It just allows large companies to BUY more spectrum. What it really does is to encourage larger companies to acquire more spectrum and increase their dominance in larger trade areas. It also encourages larger companies that may be using their existing spectrum INEFFICIENTLY to get more spectrum to be used inefficiently.

This is definitely a poor decision that must have been politically motivated, helping poor struggling companies like AT&T Wireless. (I'm serious. They're struggling because they're so stubborn in sticking to outmoded technology, and so intent on refusing to adopt newer, more efficient technology.)
