And since you brought up Tailwind in that earlier post and since neither of us "really knows" what transpired either in the event or in the reporting, we don't know whether it was "made up" or something else happened. My own take, for what it's worth, is that something happened which the folks at CNN who put the story together ran across. I don't think producers, at that level, make up out of whole cloth. I think they had a story that made sense but three things kept it off the air.

hi John,
let me return the favor and tell you that:
after 20 years in Special Forces, i may have better sources about Special Forces than you.
you are wrong.
one of us "really knows" what happened in the event and in the reporting.
contrary to what you wrote...the cnn tailwind story with all of its falsehoods and made up lies was published and shown on tv.
cnn's lawyers later admitted the story could not be substantiated.
3 people were fired including cnn's (at the time) top military reporter.
ted turner did apologize.
i sense this is personal for you so you can have the last word. i am through with this chat.
the real tailwind story is being filmed now by another network. it is a story of remarkable heroism. you will be able to see it soon.
