That's funny, Mike. You take it to the personal; I reply in terms of some distant speculation about what might have occurred (and note, repeatedly, I have no idea what really occurred); you come back with a flame, then say I got personal.

I think there is a saying, an old Texas saying, one that your friend Dan Rather has been known to use and I think Jim Baker (the Republican lawyer, god would he hate that term for himself) used it to characterize the Bosnia situation (I just stole it from reading Halberstam's book), "I don't have a dog in this fight". I don't know anyone involved; just want to point out when folk think things which conform to their point of view are the only ones worth the odd term "truth".

As for any other connotation of personal, I enjoy your posts and would likely not respond to them if I did not, despite the fact that we are on quite different political shores (illustration, your admiration for Jesse Helms, against my sense that his rise to political power brought an unwelcome coarseness to political work).
