Linux is much cooler than windows, runs MP, and does not have many bugs. I got myself Redhat 7.2, and I was stunned. I have been using linux since 1996, and what a progress! Now even IBM supercomputer guy who came to lecture on IBM RISC SC told they are trying to make things linux-like. Amazing. And it turned out my video card did not work under windows, and works under linux. LOL. Given that Microsoft software costs only go up each year, while you can get a top-speed PC for $500 (w/o monitor or OS, AMD-based - I just bought for $550:
60 Gig HD, 12x DVD, 1Gig fast Ram, AMD 1400). Maybe I will even buy some RHAT stock when it falls some more LOL! |
