The exact degree doesn't matter. When one refers to something being of a higher or lower degree, it's 9/10 times referring to the immediately preceding move.

If we are coming down off the top in a-b-c, then they are all in the same degree.

If yesterday's leg was a 1-5 (of 'a'), then they, the 1-5, are all the same degree.

So, if one asks "Is this correction of a higher degree?", it's the difference between it being, say, a '4', or a 'B'. Both point up, but they are of different degrees.
