FiloF,

It was easy for Green to lose the election. All he had to do was align himself ever so slightly with Al Sharpie Sharpton. Then it just came down to an election of race. No upper east side dwelling lilly white would ever vote for even their most cherished democrat if that democrat hints at providing for the latino or African American constituency. Sharpton seems to think that its the Latino and Black vote that swings broad elections in NYC and NY State. Wrong, you pseudo Reverend.....maybe in little local elections, but not larger ones. The actual voting numbers compared to the actual population of Latinos and Blacks in NYC is vastly different. Big fat Al has yet to realize this. If he did, his base would be minisucle and what he thinks is a large amount of political power would be nothing at all. In a city with a 5-1 VOTING democratic edge, the white democratic base changed sides this election. They saw a future of pathetic Green being bullied by Sharpton. Not even slick past President Clinton (no offense to the word President), nor Gloria Steinem and the N.O.W. crowd, not the political has beens, Mario Cuomo and the feckless David Dinkins, nor "leave her to drown", Mr. Chappaquiddic himself, Ted (give me a drink) Kennedy, nor the "I'm ashamed to say my NY state senator", Madame Clinton, nor varied groups and newspapers including 100 Blacks in law Enforcement; 100 Latinos in Law Enforcement, The NY TIMES, 250 Prominent Gay and Lesbian Leaders, etc.etc.etc.etc.......could have put Green in office. How pathetic that in typical politics as usual fashion, they all did what they thought was good for the party, but bad for the city. And, thank God a majority of NY City democrats saw otherwise.

In local elections throughout NY Sate, the dems won big.

Go Celtics,
Kaka
