Although you didn't mention the rest of this error message it seems to be a common error. Every mention of the BR_SRVC.DLL was linked to the file mentioned in this link. Searching Microsoft for "out of memory" and word 97 came up with the possibility of an out of date printer driver if you're using an HP printer. They suggested visiting HP and seeing if an updated driver is available.

Perhaps a reinstall of Word will bail you out. Unless the 32 ram you mentioned was a misprint, I don't see how a PIII running 98 would not greatly benefit from a ram upgrade. Is that not well below the minimum suggested requirements? It's a dirt cheap way to boost your computer's performance. You might try visiting crucial.com or some other ram seller. You should be able to buy 4 times the ram you currently use for less than $20.
