I don't have my copy handy, but his instructions on tactics in the case of a single high wing loaded, low thrust to weight ratio fighter against two low wing loaded, high thrust to weight ratio fighters was something along that line. But he put it better. He said that in this case, the pilot of the inferior fighter could sometimes assure his survival by an extremely careful preflight inspection. The inspection should continue until something is found that will prevent the plane from being allowed to fly. Dropping a wrench in an engine might be of assistance.
