"...In their eyes and those of the liberal judicial system"

Literalist/religious fundamentalist, are those who insist on a historical & 'literal reading' of a cultures mythological traditions, ie...reading its religious teaching as historical dogma whose statements become interpreted as universal fact or moral law. Doing so is not a liberal act.

Literalism/fundamentalism is the source of much justification of human evil towards others, be they 'infidels', 'abortionist', 'gays', 'ect...'

Literalism/fundamentalism knows no geographic borders, race, or particular ethnic identity. Intolerance & morally 'superior', the religious justification of evil, projected upon others, results from fixed & repressive attitudes that the individual is unable to integrate into his own psychic & mythological reality.

Literalism/fundamentalism, is the great sin of our age.

The war is not against liberals or conservatives, most of us are capable of entertaining both sets of values. Others are 'terrorized' at the thought of such a complex moral universe.

Anthrax Scare Hits Groups Backing Right to Abortion
By TAMAR LEWIN
<http://graphics.nytimes.com/images/misc/spacer.gif>

[I] n the second wave of anthrax threats against abortion clinics in the last month, about 200 clinics and abortion rights groups were sent Federal Express packages containing a powdery substance and, in some cases, a letter signed by the Army of God indicating that the substance was anthrax.

The packages, some of which were delivered yesterday, falsely purported to have come from individuals associated with Planned Parenthood Federation of America or the National Abortion Federation and listed addresses that were close to ? but not precisely ? those of the advocacy groups.

Eleanor Smeal, the president of the Feminist Majority Foundation, said, "This is the first time we've had an anthrax threat ? at least we hope it's just a threat ? coming in a FedEx
package, and it's an escalation, since they targeted not only the clinics but the advocacy groups like us and Catholics for a Free Choice." Ms. Smeal said she believed that only about 10 of the packages had been opened. So far, she said, the packages have been traced to three sites in Virginia, one in Philadelphia and one in Detroit. She said test results on the powder were not expected until at least today.

Because there have been so many anthrax threats against abortion clinics in the last three years, abortion rights groups have developed routines for notifying all clinics of the threats that have been received, and most are careful to screen their mail.

"We got the first call from a clinic owner in Orlando around 9 o'clock this morning, and immediately put out an alert to all the clinics," Ms. Smeal said. "I don't think too many of the packages got opened."

The F.B.I., which met with Ms. Smeal's group, Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation after a round of anthrax threats last month, has started a nationwide investigation into threats against abortion clinics.

"There definitely seems to be some connection between these packages and the earlier threats," said Stephanie Mueller, a spokeswoman for the National Abortion Federation in Washington. "Some of them said, `You've ignored our earlier warning. This is the real thing.' "

Ms. Mueller's group received a bomb threat yesterday morning, shortly after the first calls about the anthrax packages arrived, and the building was evacuated for more than an hour.

A spokeswoman for Federal Express said the company was working closely with law enforcement authorities and those affected by the mailings and had identified ? and not delivered ? "quite a few" of the packages.

"We are investigating these and have found that at least a portion of them were left in drop boxes rather than brought to an individual for delivery," the spokeswoman said.

She added that it was too early to say whether Federal Express would change any procedures for the drop boxes or for charging shipments to third-party accounts."
