So what does that mean re first shipments, intro, volumes? Sounds like a big slip to me.
Tony
Depends on what AMD means by first silicon. For a new process, you'd probably test different parts (layers) of the line individually using test lots, and examining expected performance data.
Is that first Silicon????
Then you would most likely run some type of simple SRAM to see if you could even crank up the line, possibly splitting the line at the metal layers, and do some sort of major testing mid line.
Is SRAM "First Silicon"????
Then you would most like try to run a fully functional part through the line, and test the beejesus out of it every step of the way....... Maybe 20 wafers or so, just in case the tools break any...... Tweeking experiments and such.....
Is this first Silicon????? Would "Someone" call this "Production Start?
Possibly.... If you have time, run a limited certain number of qualification lots through the line, to see if the line can handle higher volumes, without babysitting the wafers.
Is this First Silicon??? Could someone call this "Production Start"?
Begin Ramp.....
That's all Hypothetical, and Theoretical WAG..... Of Course
:-)
