This argument fails to stand up when you consider that the ignore feature would have completely solved the problem yet most refused to exercise it.

The ignore feature does not work well, for a couple of reasons.

If the person you have put on ignore is a participant in the discussion then the flow obviously gets interrupted if you ignore their input. It doesn't matter whether the input is supposed to be a positive contribution or a disruption, it is difficult to interpret the ensuing comments without reading the ignored text. So you end up reading most of it which destroys the object. Just look at how many people purport to have someone on ignore and yet obviously read their posts.

The person you are ignoring may make a valid point. (Paul could make good points if he made an effort to be civil, unfortunately not enough to balance his crass behaviour.) If you ignore these points, and they do not then get repeated by someone else then you miss them. If the ignored person is banned instead, then other people will make the points. (Sure it is possible that some important points may be overlooked, but I tend to think that most things will still get raised, and in a more civil way.)

On topic again. It now appears that Intel are selling out of the full range of P4s, both 423 and 478 pin varieties. You would think that bodes well for revenues - ASPs are not that bad. So why are some people shorting Intel right now - just short term trading? What about the risk of an upside announcement?
