Perhaps OPEC is preaching something like MAD to Russia. Mutually assured self destruction. If Russia does not want to play, for Russia's incremental 500k - 1 mbpd OPEC can pump out is short order 3-5 MBPD.

The math is very easy to see that if OPEC wants to pound Russia's profit seekers into the ground they can do it.

I am sure there are allot of considerations to be offered by OPEC and by the Russian government to induce the Russian producers.

But dont underestimate the US demand data's influence on the speculators.

THe NG 12 months strip is >$3.10, RIG counts are dropping and demand is increasing, why worry?
