KDE desktop status

I made this for another purpose, and it's in Danish, but I guess some of you might find interest in these screenshots of Red Hat Linux 7.2, made in order to display some of the facilities present.

download.dybdahl.dk

Click twice for full size screenshots. In order, the pictures are:

1) Konqueror internet browser
2) KMail e-mail client, showing the menu with reply, reply all, forward, forward as attachment, redirect, reject etc.
3) gFTP, the only danish FTP client for any platform I know (even Windows). It supports FTP, HTTP and SFTP (secure FTP).
4) Playing video. Hardware accelerated, so the video itself is not on the screenshot.
5) User setup options with focus on configurable keyboard shortcuts.
6) The free, visio alike program Kivio, with the default print dialog, showing the usual "E-mail PDF file", "Fax output", "Write PDF file" and "Write Postscript file" below the printer that is installed.
7) The file manager - Konqueror. Notice that PDF files are previewed as if they were images. Macintosh/Nautilus like interface, and focus is on the home directory without showing the full Unix system tree. Instead of using the full Unix file hierarchy, shortcuts to interesting folders are placed in the home directory, and these shortcuts (symbolic links) are also displayed to the left, in italics. MP3 files, Ogg Vorbis files etc. are played just by leaving the mouse on top of their icons. Ideal for "prehearing" files when browsing directories.
8) The MIDI application included in Red Hat 7.2, with Score Editor etc. It isn't 100% finished yet and hasn't been translated to Danish, but it surely looks good.
9) In the background, the standard ASCII editor (Notepad alike), with automatical syntax highlighting for many different kinds of files. Here, it is an HTML file that is highlighted. In the foreground the standard File/Open dialog box with preview to the right. It also previews PDF files.
10) Some commercial applications, like RealPlayer, Adobe Acrobat (seldom used - I use xpdf instead), and Borland Kylix Server Edition.
11) 3D game in a Window. Pressing Alt-Enter switches between full-screen mode and Windowed mode.
12) KDict. A program that shows some of what .net will bring for Windows. It's an extremely good program for looking up stuff in English language. It's much faster than using a web-based system.
13) Rules editing. Available in both KMail and KNode, e-mail and usenet programs. Used for picking important stuff in big amounts of e-mail or usenet postings in an intelligent way.
14) Music playing. There are lots of plugins, volume meters, mixers etc., that are not showed here. There are several media players in RHLinux72, including an extended WinAmp clone named XMMS and this one, Noatun, that integrates into the task bar at the bottom (the small round circle with the dot in).

Lars.
