I am confused as to why they don't want the Northern Alliance to attack Kabul, other than the fact that the last time it happened, mayhem and attrocities resulted. Could our troops not help prevent this? Why are we over there if we're not going to get the country out from Taliban control? This is starting to remind me of the Gulf War, where we didn't quite finish the job. And it sounds like a dumb way to try to win a war--skipping a key city, going south, and then having to fight on all sides. If someone can shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it.
