Hi Rob,
>>Seems to me that in all-IP network deployment/environment, OFDM has an edge over CDMA;
IP knows neither OFDM nor CDMA. Why do you say this?
>> if VoIP is in fact to be successful, why have dedicated voice - it's just a high priority app isn't it?
What is 'dedicated' mean in CDMA? in OFDM? in 5-UP? etc. Yes it a high priority, hopefully bounded latency kind of app
>> Why not connect all those OFDM-based WLAN hotspots with OFDM-based BWA?
Again, the hotspots are 802.11b DSSS today, and the links can be DSL, long-reach Ethernet, cable, or any economic access technology.
>> Does this approach marginalize data in the WAN - making 2.5g adequate for the foreseeable future?
Any WAN data approach that covers locations where people have time - seats at the gate, in the stands, Jacksonville old harbor, etc., diminishes the 'mobile' data business case.
While you are at it, please list the patents for which 'IPR royalty rates: 15%' have been sustainable, then 7%(like Qualcomm' s China export rate) , finally 6% ;-) (avoiding IBM's 5% patents).
